Warren Indoor Water Park

See my updated post here: http://blog.metrodetroitmommy.com/2015/04/warren-indoor-pool-updated.html

This past weekend my son Damian, Rosa and I visited the Indoor Water Park in Warren.  WOW!!!  What a great time.

The indoor water park is located in the Community Center building on Arden.  (west of Mound, between 13 and 14 mile).  The building houses the pool, a fitness center, a gymnasium, an auditorium and so much more.  The City of Warren offers buy one get one free coupons on their website.  You can see their current rates here.

About our visit:
The site offers a great locker room with plenty of lockers, bathroom facilities, showers, electrical outlets (for dryers and curling irons) and electrical hand dryers.  The locker room was very clean and well maintained, but it was a little chilly compared to the pool area.  When you visit, don't forget to bring your own lock, towels and shampoos/soaps.  If you have a child in diapers, swim diapers are required.

The pool house contains a pool which is partially sectioned off for lap swimming, a children's splash play area, a lazy river, a hot tub for adults and several slides.  In addition to the water attractions, refreshments were available at the concession stand and there was  party room.

We spent over an hour in the children's splash area.  There was a large play structure with four sets of slides and lots of opportunities for the children to get wet.  There was a big bucket that fills and spills.  It scared Rosa every time it emptied.  She spent a lot of time going up the stairs and down one of the slides.

I liked that there were sections that were zero depth entry, but I didn't like that for a majority of the area you had to step up to get out.  Rosa had a hard time navigating the step.

The pool also had a rule that every child under the age of six must have an adult in the water with them, actively supervising them.  I would have been right next to Rosa the whole time anyway, but I can see how that might be annoying with a five or six year old.

We went in the lazy river next.  Rosa was okay with this, but it wasn't her thing.  I walked around the river a few times with her riding in the inner tube.

Finally we played in the pool.  Damian enjoyed playing basketball in the pool with a couple other teens while Rosa and I bounced, splashed and swam.

The pool had several life preservers available in different sizes to use at no charge.  There was plenty of seating along the edges of all the pool areas and tables.  Damian said that the slides were super fast, but the ridges where the connections were hurt his back and he only went down each slide once.

Overall, it was a great time and a great deal.  The employees and life guards were all very friendly and helpful.  The water was warm, but in the splash area, it could have been just a bit warmer.  If we lived in Warren I would be very temped to get a membership.
