Oakland Mall - Troy

The play equipment is finally out of the store front at Oakland Mall and patrons can enjoy the newly carpeted play area. This play area has an animal theme with a hippo to climb, an alligator slide that is perfect for toddlers, a boat, frogs, turtles, a snake tunnel and crocodile balance beam.

This play structure is great for little children, but older children may not find the equipment entertaining after a few minutes.  There is plenty of seating around the edges of the play area and there is only one entry/exit point which helps keep the children contained.

I would love to see a better slide.  The one they have is very short and isn't really much of a slide for children over the age of three.  Another drawback is the "I Want Candy" Store and the rides that are in close proximity to the play area.  As we were leaving, one of my children had a meltdown because we were not going to ride the carousel.  I guess it was a good learning experience, but I would have rather not had to deal with it.

The play area was rather clean.  The equipment showed some signs of wear, but was in very good condition and appeared to be clean.  There weren't a lot of children which was nice.
