Paint Creek Cider Mill

Paint Creek Cider Mill is located at 480 Orion Road in Oakland Township, Michigan. They are currently open 9am – 8pm during the fall hours.  They are open all year with hours of 11am – 7pm and closed on Mondays for the winter months.  Summer hours will be 11am to 9pm, 7 days a week.

This beautiful former mill is home to the Paint Creek Cider Mill and office spaces (where the restaurant used to be).  Behind the mill is the Paint Creek trails which are crushed limestone trails that follow along the Paint Creek for almost 9 miles.  I do not recommend smaller wheeled strollers, (like the one I was using) for this trail, but a jogging stroller would work well.

Paint Creek Cider Mill offers an expanded menu consisting of hot sandwiches, grilled wraps, hand tossed
pizzas, salads and from scratch pirogi.  They have home made sodas on tap like Uncle Ed’s
Rootbeer, Uncle Ed’s Orange Cream Soda and Uncle Ed’s Ginger Ale. They house
smoke their pulled pork and on the weekends they offer a special “Off the Smoker” Menu which consists of rotational selection of Baby Back Ribs, Chicken,
Brisket, Turkey, Salmon and more.

During our visit we tried the cider, a cinnamon donut, a wrap, baked beans, a hot dog and superman ice cream.   The cider – was very tasty.  Sweet, tangy, smooth and very cold.  It is served by the glass, 1/2 gallon, or you can have it blended into a slushi (no sugar added).  YUM!  Paint Creek Cider Mills is now pressing thier own cider in house for the first time in about 15 years.
Their house pressed cider is unpasteurized to provide the purest and freshest
cider to die hard cider fans.  They also offer pasteurized cider brought in from
Blake’s orchards of Armada, Mi.

The cinnamon donut was also very tasty.  Freshly made, warm and sugary! Their donuts are made every day, throughout the day in order to offer the best and freshest donuts. Missing from this picture is the Homer, which had pink icing and rainbow sprinkles.  It was very tempting, however, I decide to decline the pink mess that would have been inevitable.

The pulled pork wrap was okay.  First I should say that I am a huge BBQ fan and it was my fault for not looking (or communicating correctly), but I thought I was getting the BBQ pulled pork wrap, but instead got a dry wrap.  So it would have been the best dry pulled pork ever and I would have thought it was blah!  What I did love about the sandwich was that it was grilled.  The house made Cider sauce that was on the wrap was very good too, (I would have loved more of that).

The hot dog was an all beef frank, the menu says it was grilled, but it looked like it was steamed since it was a bit more wrinkled than I cared for on the ends.  That being said, it was for Rosa and Carlyn, and they enjoyed it.

The baked beans were very delicious.  I prefer more saucy beans, but they had a good flavor and both the girls loved them too.  I was happy I chose them over the french fries (which would have been a ton of calories).

The superman ice cream (Hershey’s Premium Brand) was spectacular!  So smooth and flavorful.  I was thrilled when Rosa picked it out, since this was my favorite childhood flavor.  (It still might be my favorite.)  We got it in a waffle cone, but the cone itself was a bit chewy.

Overall the place was clean and the owners were super friendly and helpful.  I love that it is locally owned and operated.  There was so much to look at and see as far as the decor and the setting is very relaxing.  Dining is available both indoors and outdoors.  I will surely be back to try out some of the other menu items.  I am thinking the Pirogi sounds fantastic, or maybe the pizza.
