Monster Jam - recap

Guest Blogger - Brandy M.

I am so excited to be telling you about my amazing time last night at Ford Field for Monster Jam with MDM!  I have an almost three year old who is monster truck obsessed, so we had to check this show out.  I took five children with me, ages 2-13, and every single one of them loved it!  Monster Jam truly is an event for all ages.

We arrived at about 6:45 and parked in the Comerica Park lot which is about a block away from the arena.  Will call was fast, and security was moving the large crowd through quickly.  Finding our seats was a breeze and there didn’t seem to be a bad seat in the house.  We bought ourselves some refillable souvenir cups and put in our ear plugs and eagerly waited for the show to start!

The first hour was full of races.  Fast, loud, exciting!  The trucks went up against each other to determine the winner of the night and everyone watched and cheered for their favorite.  After the races was a short intermission and then the CRAZY fun began!  There was a short motorcycle show to give the crowd a taste of the fun that’s coming to Ford Field on March 15th with the Monster Energy Supercross FIM World Championship.  After the motorcycles left the stage, freestyle began.  Freestyles included jumps, flips, tips, crashes and some SERIOUS air time.  The crowd was in love and glued to the action.  My two year old got into the destruction and demolition - two different types of campers were brought onto the field and both were completely destroyed along with school buses and cars.  There were more “WOW” moments than I could count over the three and a half hour show!

At random times during the show, a T-Shirt cannon would come out and shoot shirts into the crowd.  My 12 year old was lucky enough to catch one!  She was beaming from ear to ear and it made the already fun night an absolute blast for her.  After the show, there was an autograph session, and a chance to meet the drivers and take pictures with them.  We took advantage of that and got her t-shirt autographed by all of the drivers - even the much loved Grave Digger.  Two of my girls were fascinated with the female drivers and they got their pictures taken with both of them.  It was the highlight of their night!

All in all, Monster Jam was a fun, exciting, loud and entertaining evening.  Our family WILL go back to Ford Field on March 1, 2014 to see Monster Jam again!

  1. I was the winner of the free tickets. I was so happy to have won the tickets and able to go. I saw your daughter get the t shirt. I was sitting just a few seats down. Section 101 row 39 seats 5-8. So happy for her also, her face was priceless when she picked the shirt up from under her seat. This was my first monster jam show and we had a great time.
