DSO to perform at the Annual Salute to America at Greenfield Village

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) will return to Greenfield Village at The Henry Ford for the 22nd Annual Salute to America concerts, a classic family friendly Independence Day celebration. Four nights of performances led by special guest conductor Bob Bernhardt will take place on the lawn at Dearborn's historic Greenfield Village on July 2, 3, 4 and 5 with gates opening at 6 p.m. and concerts to commence at 8:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to gather their blankets, picnic and lawn chairs to enjoy favorites such as The Star Spangled Banner, Armed Forces Salute and other patriotic favorites. A fireworks display will close the program, timed to accompany Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture.

The metro Detroit tradition will continue as 1st Michigan Colonial Fife and Drum Corps parade the concert grounds at 6:45 p.m. followed by a prelude concert featuring the United States Army Field Band at 7:30 p.m. The Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus will join the DSO during the program on Toby Keith's "American Soldier," Jenkins' American Overture, and more.
