A Good Time for a Good Cause

On Saturday, October 25, 2014, the first annual Halloween Kiddie Disco will be held at Laskey Recreation Center 13200 Fenelon St. in Detroit, MI.  The purpose of this event is to provide low-costing social events to children on and off the spectrum to increase socialization skills, to increase a better understanding of autism, and form long lasting bonds.

The event will be held from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.  Tickets are $5 each in advance and can also be purchased at the door.  The event will be sensory friendly, no blinking lights or loud music, so anyone affected with autism can attend.  For those who may not be able to attend but would like to make a donation toward this worthy cause, please visit

Nina Harris, founder of Celebrity Status Presents: Charlie's Journey, states, “This cause is dear to my heart because my son was diagnosed with autism in 2006.”  She relates, “It was a struggle finding assistance.  I had to do numerous fundraisers and a lot of leg work to not only find the resources but pay for them since insurance did not cover anything.”

Charlie's Journey is a foundation located in Oak Park, Michigan, founded by Nina Harris in April of 2014. The organization is dedicated to assisting families with children newly diagnosed with autism.  Our fundraising efforts are to make sure we can host autism friendly events throughout the year with little or no costs attached, and to provide financial assistance to families for services not covered by insurance. To get involved or to make donations in support of this organization, please call Nina Harris, founder, (248) 397-5519 or e-mail her at
