How to Plan a Fun Family Camping Trip In Michigan This Fall

Family camping trips are what fun memories for a majority of kids across the country are made of. If you’re thinking of giving your family the experience but you’re not quite sure where to start, have a look at the tips outlined below. They will help you plan a fun camping trip for your family that will have the kids talking about long after it has passed.

Rent an RV and Choose a Campground

There are over 16,000 public and private campgrounds throughout the country, giving RVers the freedom to roam America’s roads for months at a time or just a weekend as they please. If you don’t own an RV, consider renting one as you scout for campgrounds. It will improve the experience considerably, and you will have an easy time navigating to a place you have mapped out in advance. With more time free to explore and let loose, this could be the holiday you’ve all been waiting for!

Follow a Thorough Packing List

To make sure you don’t leave behind a crucial board game or something else that you need to take with you for games and fun, write down everything you need to carry and pack with this checklist at hand. Don’t leave out appropriate clothing and the right camping gear for a great trip, as you don’t want to miss out on a potential fishing expedition just because you forgot the rods or something along those lines!

Get Tested Before Heading Out

To make sure you’re all healthy and ready for a fun trip, get tested so you know no one is sick. The trip won’t be a lot of fun if all everyone wants to do is hide under the covers as they battle a fever. You can have most tests done at your local hospital and the relevant drugs administered, if any are necessary. For instance, there are two types of viral tests used to test for COVID-19, one of them being antigen tests and the other nucleic acid amplification tests, or NAATs. Find out what test would be best as you are planning your trip so you head out healthy and happy.

Stock Up On Snacks

Hunger is not synonymous with a good time, and the kids will be constantly griping when their sugar levels go down. Because you want everyone pumped up, enjoying the scenery, and singing road-tripping songs, remember to stock up on snacks. You could spare time before your trip to make your own snacks at home, giving you confidence in their quality and freshness. Pack enough snacks so that you don’t run out of them and need to start searching for refills, which will almost always be costlier.

Budget Some Homework Time

With just under 88,000 elementary schools in America, this means getting some homework done is a possible scenario in the fall season. Spare some time during your trip for homework. They may enjoy doing it in a different setting than they’re used to, so talk about it with them in advance. If they prefer to finish it before you set out, give them the time, and if they want to do it at the campsite or even on the road, let them do it with help whenever necessary.

Camping trips are always fun, and if you’re in Michigan, there are a number of places you can set off to. Planning in advance will help you get the most out of your trip, so sit down as a family and map out a plan of where to go, for how long, and what to do while you’re there. It will be a great break for everyone!
