When it comes to comfort food, pizza tops my list of favorites. It’s an easy go-to dinner, or lunch, okay we eat if for breakfast too, that everyone loves. Living in Metro Detroit, we certainly are spoiled with the diversity of pizza options, however, Detroit style pizza is my favorite. Rectangular shaped, thick crust pizza with toppings, and sauce on the top make this pizza unique. Buddy’s in Woodhaven hosted us for dinner last week so that we could share our experience with you.
Buddy’s Rendezvous is credited with developing Detroit-style pizza back in 1946, which later became the Buddy’s Pizza we know today. The newest Buddy’s location, their 15th in Metro Detroit, is located at 21611 Allen Road in Woodhaven. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza on the east side of Allen Road, just north of West Road.
Visitors to the newest location will enjoy the large 7,000 square foot space which features high ceilings and a wall mural of The Spirit of Detroit. With a wide variety of seating options, Buddy’s in Woodhaven is well suited for families, large parties or even a quick business lunch. In the warmer months, they even offer 25 seats on the outdoor patio.
Buddy’s Menu
If you are in the mood for pizza, Buddy’s in Wooddhaven has you covered. They currently offer specialty pizzas as well as signature pizza, thin-crust, and even gluten-free options on their menu. In addition to their award winning pizza, guests can enjoy appetizers, soup, salads, pasta, burgers, and sandwiches. Buddy’s in Woodhaven even has a full bar with specialty cocktails, house and imported wines, draft and bottle beer. For youngers guests, a “Lil’ Buddy’s Menu” is available with Grilled Cheese, pasta, chicken strips and more.
We really enjoyed our dining experience at Buddy’s in Woodhaven. We started our meal off with breadsticks which were served with marinara and ranch. They were served hot and were so scrumptious. The pizza was cooked to perfection, with fresh toppings and a thick crust. The kids ordered pineapple and chicken, while hubby had peppers and onions. I ordered a cheeseburger which was delicious. We all split a Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae for dessert, a delightful end to our meal.
