Driving Miss Daisy - Flash #Giveaway and ticket #Discount from @OEONTheGo

Driving Miss Daisy is set to warm audience hearts for five performances at the City Theatre on Friday, October 31 through Sunday, November 2; as part of the Fifth Third Bank Fox Theatre Series. Direct from a successful run at Performance Network Theatre in Ann Arbor, this engagement reunites the award winning team of director John Manfredi and actor James Bowen in the classic tale of an unlikely friendship that blossoms into one of respect.

Driving Miss Daisy is the story of Daisy Werthan, a 72 year old Jewish woman living in the south who is too stubborn to admit she needs assistance, Hoke, an illiterate black man hired to be her chauffer and the strong but reluctant bond that grows between them. The play takes place from 1948-1973 as the civil-rights movement brings changes to the old South.

The successful play written by Alfred Uhry in 1987 and produced across the country was later turned into an Oscar nominated film starring Morgan Freeman and Jessica Tandy. In 2005 John Manfredi’s critically acclaimed theatrical version of Driving Miss Daisy garnered Wilde Awards for Best Play, Best Director (John Manfredi) and Best Actor (James Bowen) from PrideSource Media. The play was also named one of the season's Ten Best by the Detroit Free Press and received a 4-Star review.
