So, Thanksgiving is right around the corner and you might be beginning to draft your menu options. Here is a quick and easy menu, which I will be serving to my family and I am happy to share with you! The options and links I have provided are all organic/non-GMO verified and gluten free but you can of course purchase conventional ingredients in their place if these options are not suitable to you. These recipes also feature no added sugars!
Recipes designed to feed 10-12 people, adjust amounts for your families needs. All of these ingredients can be found at Meijer or Kroger unless noted otherwise, unless you are not buying organic - then you can find them anywhere :)
Organic, 100% grass fed turkey.
You can order/purchase them from organic food co-ops, private farms and health food stores.
6 pounds of USDA Organic Red Skinned Potatoes
8 Large Organic Sweet Potatoes
1 bag of GF, Non-GMO Marshmallows
4 cans of organic Baked Beans
we love the Meijer brand!
2 bags of organic whole orange Carrots
1 container of organic Mixed Greens/Salad Mix
2 cups (or 2 cans) of Organic Pie Pumpkin
3 pound bag of Organic Apples
2 bags of Organic Cranberries
4 organic Oranges or 10 Cuties
2 sticks of butter
Cinnamon, Cloves, Sage, Salt, Pepper
Apple Sage Turkey
Prepare your turkey as per usual. Pour 6 cups of apple juice over the turkey and into the pan. Sprinkle salt, pepper and sage onto the moist turkey. Slice up 2 apples and put them inside the turkey with an optional onion. Bake per recommended time and temp for weight of turkey.
Buttery Red Skinned Smashed Potatoes
Wash potatoes and put into a baking dish with 1 stick of butter, finely sliced and covering potatoes. Sprinkle with salt and add 1/4 cup of water. Cover with foil and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and smash. Add more butter and salt to taste.
Sweet Potato Casserole
Cube sweet potatoes and put into covered baking dish with 4 cups of orange juice, cover with sprinkled cinnamon and clove. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and mash. Cover with marshmallows and bake for 15 more minutes with the lid off.
Fresh Steamed Green Beans
Simply steam green beans over boiling water for 3-5 minutes.
Maple Bacon Baked Beans
Add 4 canned baked beans with 1/4 cup of maple syrup and 1 package of COOKED bacon.
Stir in a saucepan until completely warmed.
Honey Glazed Carrots
Bake or boil desired amount of carrots. Once cooked,
glaze with honey and an optional dash of brown sugar.
Fresh Tossed Salad
Mix your favorite greens with your favorite toppings!
Core and slice desired amount of apples, add enough water to cover them in a saucepan and boil until soft. Drain excess water, add honey and cinnamon. Simmer and stir until completely mixed.
Cranberry Orange Relish
Put oranges and cranberries into a food processor or Ninja. Pulse until chopped finely
into a relish. Add 1/3 cup of honey and stir. Add optional nuts.
