Oakland County Parks and Recreation wants to put more “splash” into its two popular waterparks by kicking off a naming contest for Red Oaks Waterpark in Madison Heights and Waterford Oaks Waterpark in Waterford.
Ideas can be submitted via Oakland County Parks and Recreation’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ocparks. The top three name entries for each waterpark will then be chosen by parks staff.
“Waterpark name suggestions will be judged on originality and ability to describe Michigan’s excitement for waterparks and outdoor recreation,” Oakland County Parks Executive Officer Dan Stencil said. “Our waterparks are fun, exciting destinations and we want the names of the waterparks to reflect that experience.”
The choices will be made available for a public vote Nov. 17 through midnight Nov. 21. Voting information will be available at that time on Oakland County Parks and Recreation’s Facebook page. The winner for each waterpark will be announced Tuesday, Nov. 25. If multiple people submit the same winning name, a single winner will be randomly chosen from among those entries.
Winner chosen for each waterpark will receive:
- Four one-day Waterpark Admission Passes (valid 2015)
- $25 Concession Gift Card
- T-shirt with newly named waterpark’s logo and “I named this waterpark!” message
Top three entry picks for each waterpark will receive:
- Two one-day Waterpark Admission Passes (valid 2015)
