Free Workshop for parents in NW Wayne County

Positive Behavior Supports with Sandee Koski

Michigan Alliance for Families in Northwestern Wayne County is offering a free workshop, hosted by Kenya Harper-Black, on January 15, 2015 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Romulus Public Library, 11121 Wayne Road, Romulus, MI. Sign-in opens at 5:00 pm. Light refreshments will be available.

This workshop will introduce Positive Behavior Supports (PBS). Many children have behaviors that are part of their disability. These behaviors may make it difficult to learn, cause harm, or isolate a child from his or her peers. It is important for parents to understand that behavior is communication.

We will explain what a Functional Behavior Analysis (FBA) is, and how a FBA leads to the development of a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that utilizes Positive Behavior Supports.
Who should attend: families of children/young adults with disabilities or learning difficulties, professionals, service providers, caregivers, school staff.
For more information, see the flyer at http://www.michiganallianceforfamilies.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Behavior-2015-01015-Romulus.pdf
