The MOD Pizza brand started in Seattle back in 2008 when a couple was inspired by their love of pizza and their need to feed four hungry boys. Scott and Aly Svenson wanted to create something unique, a business that would create a memorable experience for both their customers and team members all while creating a fresh, handmade product they could deliver in just a few minutes.
They developed MOD Pizza, a fast casual restaurant, where customers can get a thin crust pizza or salad in a flash. You can get one of their specialty pizzas (or salads) or load on your own toppings all for one price.
I had the opportunity to try out their Lucy Sunshine pizza which includes artichoke, fresh garlic, mozzarella, Parmesan and dollops of red sauce on top. YUM! I also tried their fresh lemonade, another winner, in my opinion. Although is a simple thing, I have to mention that I love the aerated ice, a great finishing touch for your cool beverage choice.
I was also able to sample the breadsticks (garlic and cinnamon) and their milkshakes... all were very tasty. And while I didn't try them, they also serve Michigan draft beer, wine and a wide selection of sodas.
MOD Pizza is celebrating their Grand Opening today (August 14th) with a "pay as you want" day to benefit the Main Street League.
