LEGOLAND® DISCOVERY CENTER MICHIGAN Groundbreaking Ceremony - Opens Spring 2016 #LDCMichigan

Yesterday the girls and I headed out to Great Lakes Crossing Outlets to help celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony for LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Michigan. Merlin Entertainments, the world’s second largest visitor attraction operator, hosted the event where children had plenty of time to play with LEGO bricks and we learned all about the plans for their next Michigan attraction.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center will be a 32,000-square-foot indoor attraction featuring more than one million LEGO bricks and themed exhibits including a 4D cinema, two interactive rides, large soft play areas and a uniquely Michigan-themed MINILAND display,” said LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan’s General Manager Hayley Anderson. “We can’t wait to open our doors to families from Michigan and beyond to enjoy amazing LEGO® play experiences that power creativity and learning.”

“Merlin Entertainment’s SEA LIFE Michigan Aquarium has been a great addition to Great Lakes Crossing Outlets since it opened in January, so we are absolutely thrilled that the company has decided to introduce another one of its world-class attractions here,” added Steve Berlow, General Manager of Great Lakes Crossing Outlets—The Taubman Company.

We also heard from:
Matthew A. Gibb, Deputy County Executive, Oakland County
Kevin McDaniel, Mayor of Auburn Hills
Bill Bohde, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau
Kelly Wolgamott, Michigan Economic Development Corporation

Bertie, the LEGOLAND® Discovery Center mascot, joined the fun when a large construction truck ceremoniously dumped 50,000 LEGO® bricks to the delight of the school children.
