Punch Bowl Social in Detroit

Last January we featured Punch Bowl Social as one of our Favorite Family Friendly Restaurants in Metro Detroit.  Danielle shared many different restaurants, but Punch Bowl Social stood out.

Danielle wrote:
"This place has it all! Bring the family and enjoy Sunday brunch and then some bowling. The atmosphere is uplifting and fun for the entire family.  Not to mention the food and drink is out of this world!"

So, how had I not known of this place?  I contacted Punch Bowl Social in Detroit and we headed out to enjoy a Saturday morning of food, drinks and fun on the house so we could share our experience with you.

Punch Bowl Social:

Punch Bowl Social is located in Detroit at 1331 Broadway Street, just blocks away from the Detroit Opera House and Campus Martius Park.  Parking is available in the garages (flat daily fee) or on the street (by the hour).

With so much to offer, Punch Bowl Social is the perfect destination for a social gathering, family outings, parties and so much more.  They offer bowling, darts, marbles, ping pong, shuffle board, vintage arcade games, private karaoke rooms, Scrabble and more.

Don't forget to bring your socks!!!

The Food:

Out of this world, yes, I agree.  I was expecting typical bar fare, what we got was classic items with a unique culinary twist.

We started off with the Cauliflower Nachos made with roasted cauliflower, corn tortilla chips, jalapeño crema, cilantro, queso fondito, queso cotija, jalapeño, pickled onion and crème fraîche, and we added chicken.  It was so wonderful and gone within a few minutes.  Everyone enjoyed it.

The kids each had a cheeseburger.  They were perfectly cooked and delicious (I tried Carlyn's, YUM).

I had the The New Order Chicken Sandwich.  OMG.. my new favorite.  This sandwich alone will bring me back again and again.  And my issue will be that I will want this sandwich and try other items on the menu too... this is a REAL PROBLEM!  (Wink) The sandwich is made with chicken breast, mustard vinaigrette, pickled slaw, spicy aioli, radish, bibb lettuce, and jalapeño creme served on a ciabatta bun with house cut fries.

Chancellor had the Chicken & Waffles which are panko breaded chicken breast, malted waffle, strawberries, chipotle pecan maple syrup and candied walnuts. Dessert and lunch all rolled into one entree.  It was a fantastic twist on a classic dish.

I tried the Strawberry Rhubarb Fizz which is house made with strawberry syrup, fees rhubarb bitters and sparkling water.  It was refreshing, light, sweet and had a great flavor.

The Space:

There are so many different spaces to enjoy at Punch Bowl Social.  On my tour, I learned that each space can be reserved for parties and get-togethers.  The karaoke room would make a perfect party room for tweens and teens, the Holiday Lounge is a great space with a fireplace and pool table and is centrally located.  They even have a second floor with a ton of fun activities and two additional bowling lanes.

Kids Bowl FREE:

Then there is the Kids Bowl FREE program through the summer.  How awesome is this?  Guess where I will be next time it's too hot or raining?  It is the perfect summer field trip.

Overall, we had a fantastic time and we will be returning again.

Metro Detroit Mommy Blogger:

  1. Cauliflower nachos ?? Sounds so good!

  2. I would love to take my son bowling. The food looks delicious, too!

  3. I'm kind of surprised to hear this place is so kid-friendly, I had heard it was more of a bar. Those menu items sound delicious!

  4. Punch Bowl Social looks like some of the places I usually hang out at around here. I visit the D on a fairly regular basis (my wife actually works downtown) so it would be cool bring the kids and go bowling now that school is out. Sounds like a fun place and part of "new Detroit."

  5. I'd love to try this place. Hoping we can go as blogger!

  6. This place sounds amazing. I checked out their menu and would have a very difficult time choosing between a burger, Chicken & Waffles and the Very Serious Grilled Cheese. The Almond Joy Milkshake sounds excellent too! What a fun place, I'd really like to give it a try!

  7. I've been here once but without kids so thank you for the suggestion! This place is great. The food is delicious, so much to do and the parking is easy. I can't wait to go back again!

  8. I keep hearing about this place! Can't wait to try it out. Thanks for the review. :)
