Light Up The Point - Celebrating July 4th at Cedar Point - Review

Our kids love to visit Cedar Point and see fireworks, so this was the perfect opportunity to experience both at one venue.  On Saturday, July 2nd we drove to Cedar Point to enjoy all they have to offer so we could share our experience with you.

Light Up The Point runs until July 4th, 2016.  Each night the fireworks start at 10:30 pm on the Cedar Point Beach.  VIP Viewing is available for $20 for adults and $15 for kids 12 and under and includes all-you-can-eat buffet of hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, chips and drinks (soda and water).  Each VIP guest will also receive 3D viewing glasses and a reserved chair on the beach.  We also received cool light up necklaces.

Our experience: with three children we decided it was best not to spend too much time on the beach for this event.  The gates opened at 9:30 pm for the VIP viewing party and we got there at 10 pm.  We got the kids their necklaces and glasses and headed up to the buffet for the food.

The food was good, and there were plenty enough for everyone that was there.  We all enjoyed the meal on the beach, although there were only a few high top tables available.  We chose to find our seats and eat there.  I had the girls sit in the sand and use the chair as a table, because honestly I knew it would take about 2 minutes before someone's plate was in the sand and 10 pm is prime time for a toddler meltdown....

White folding chairs were set up in rows on the beach.  There were plenty of seats for everyone that was in attendance.  We easily found four seats in the middle of the group and the fireworks started shortly after we finished our food at 10:30 pm.  Rosa thought the glasses were very cool.  The viewing glasses turn the fireworks (or any light source) into three-dimensional rainbow starbursts.  It was a fun different way to view the fireworks.

The Fireworks were rather close and perfectly timed to the music they played in the speakers all along the beach.  The show ended at 10:40 pm and everyone headed back into the park through the entrance which was nearby at the Windseeker.

The event was a nice way to take a little break and eat before we headed back into the park to enjoy some more rides.
