GiGi’s Playhouse Detroit Grand Opening

As the sister of sweet little boy with Down Syndrome, it makes me so proud to see organizations making an effort to increase positive awareness around this diagnosis. I believe that it is so important to empower individuals with Down Syndrome and send a message of love and acceptance. GiGi’s Playhouse has stepped up and made this even more of a possibility. I was absolutely thrilled to help welcome one of their newest achievement centers on Sunday January 27.  I brought my family out to the GiGi’s Playhouse Detroit Grand Opening, and it was truly a wonderful experience. Gigi’s Playhouse is located at 19799 West 12 Mile Road in  Southfield, on the south side of 12 Mile Road, just east of Evergreen in the Kroger Shopping Plaza.

GiGi’s Playhouse Mission

To increase positive awareness of Down syndrome through national campaigns, educational programs, and by empowering individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community.

Over 700 people showed up for GiGi’s Playhouse Detroit Grand Opening on Sunday, January 27, 2019.  We were all welcomed with a bag full of goodies and a scavenger hunt map at the door. The map showed us the various areas within the facility. Visitors received a star on their map for every area they visited. Once complete, the map could be submitted as  raffle ticket for some really cool prizes. Check out some of the other highlights of the Grand Opening below.

We got to visit each area of the new facility following our scavenger hunt map. After getting a star on each part of our map, we were able to turn it into to be entered into a raffle for some really cool prizes.

There were several different activities available to keep the kiddos entertained. It was also a great opportunity to make some new friends, as many of the children did.

This colorful facility offered lots of fun ways for children to work on their fine and gross motor skills.
