  • Description: Hayrides are held every Friday night, September 16 through November 4 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Rides last approximately 30 minutes, with the last ride leaving at 7 p.m. The fee is $5 per person and pre-registration is highly recommended, as rides fill quickly. A limited number of tickets will be sold the day of the event at the door. All ages welcome. The Nature Center is also open late on Fridays during the hayrides.

Pumkinfest (South Lyon)

  • Description: For 32 years, just as the weather turns crisp, hundreds of volunteers come together to carry out this beloved community event.
    Pumpkinfest kicks off Friday, September 23rd at 6:00p.m. The Biergarten/Main Stage on Wells St. will open at 6:00 PM, for further details visit the Biergarten Page under the Food and Drink tab.
    Saturday, the Festivities begin at 10:00 AM with the annual Pumpkinfest Parade.  This year's Parade theme is Halloween Heroes!  Information can be found under festival forms tab, here on our website.  After the parade, stop by the Craft Show at Millennium Middle School and then join us downtown for food, music, inflatables, and the crowd favorite:  The Ultimate Air Dogs!
    Sunday, will continue with a Great Pumpkin contest,  Pie eating Contests, inflatables, Air Dogs, Music and much, much more!

  • Description: We excitedly invite you to celebrate the majesty of the orange pumpkin by engaging in the largest pumpkin bowling course ever imagined. We will be turning on the spotlights surrounding the Lost Lake sledding hill and setting up trashcan pins at the bottom of the hill. Participants will have to carry their ammunition to the top of the hill, aim true, and then send their pumpkin careening back down with the intention of obliterating the cans. This ultimate celebration in pumpkin destruction wouldn’t be complete without a snack so expect cider and doughnuts to keep you energized and climbing that hill.

Guests are invited to carve a pumpkin and place it on the stone walls surrounding the Museum property and return that evening to see all the pumpkins lighted up!
    Admission to the Pumpkin Festival for Museum Members is $5 and for nonmembers is $8 per person and includes a pumpkin.  Kids under 2 years of age are free.   The Museum will provide stencils and carving tools but guests are encouraged to bring their own carving tools from home.
    Evening lighting of the pumpkins runs from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm, and a financial donation in any amount is requested to support the Rochester Area Neighborhood House.

We will be providing all the participants with the materials required to put together a collection bag to store all of their treats and treasures that are collected throughout the trails. We will look at owl feathers, talons, tails, beaks, skulls and even their regurgitated pellets! We will head into the woods with flashlights and owl calls and see if we can’t get one of the ’Tigers of the Sky’ to respond. Afterwards we will put together an articulated skeleton from what we find in the pellets.
