The Sandusky Hotel you want to AVOID

This summer we took an awesome vacation and visited all of the Cedar Point parks so we could share our experience with you.  Lots of great fun to be had:

But I have to tell you, staying at a quality hotel… worth more than what I “saved” at the cheapest hotel in the area, Roadway Inn North in Sandusky, Ohio.

I only took a few pictures, I wish I had taken a slew more, the issues were endless.

First… I checked in as the only adult with three kids and we were given a second floor room. The access to the room was a set of stairs that were carpeted, falling apart and steep as heck.. three kids (one is an infant), luggage, stairs.. FAIL.

We get upstairs and the whole hotel has a bit of a funk.

The room was adequate for sleeping… but maintenance was a huge issue across the board.  Not only in our room, but the stairs I mentioned earlier needed work, the swimming pool area had missing tiles in the ceiling, the hot top wasn’t open, the hotel room door at the top of the stairs didn’t close all the way and more.

pretty sure this is not up to code like this

maybe some better screws?

Then we had an issue with our key card working on Sunday night.  No biggie, except it is late at night, with three groggy kids, we get to the top of the stairs and the key doesn’t work and I am the only adult.  So I had to drag three kids to the lobby and get the issue fixed.  The employee tried to blame it on being close to my phone, but I didn’t need an explanation or to be blamed.  Funny enough the room key we left in our room on the night stand didn’t work either…. So maybe they were deactivated?  IDK… All I know is it wasn’t fun.

The general smell and cleanliness of the hotel was a huge issue.

And the only reason I am posting this is because I left feedback with the hotel management and they said they weren’t aware of any issues… really you can’t see that the stairs are literally falling apart?  You can see missing tiles in the swimming pool?  You didn’t know the hot tub was closed?  So in my mind, things aren’t going to change.. and I would hate for you to have the same experience I did.
