I love caramel apples, but they're big and awkward to eat. So, I came up with a quick, easy treat called chocolate apple pops that will delight your sweet tooth and is less messy.
Here's what you will need;
- Large Granny Smith apples
- Chocolate for melting
- Wooden Sticks for ice cream bars
- Chocolate and caramel sauce to drizzle
- Your favorite toppings. You could add pretzels, sprinkles, crushed cookies; the list goes on and on.
Slice the apples a medium size. You will be running a stick through them so they need to be thick enough to withhold it.
Cut a slit in the bottom of the apples so that you can push through the stick.
Line a cookie tray with tinfoil or parchment paper. Melt the chocolate in the microwave until melted. If the chocolate is too thick, add a little coconut oil to make the apples easier to dip. Once you dip the apple's place them in the freezer for ten minutes to harden the chocolate.
Now comes the fun part! You might even want your kids to help you with the decorating. Drizzle your favorite syrups and add all kinds of goodies. We kept ours pretty simple with caramel sauce and sprinkles.
