We were invited by Twelve Oaks to drop by and experience 'Santa's Flight Academy' at a media preview event where I received an awesome swag bag in exchange for coming out and sharing my experience with you.
First, let me say that this was a magical experience for Carlyn, age four. She loved every moment, and relayed almost the whole event back to Grandma a few hours later with such excitement and a twinkle in her eyes.
Your first stop will be to register your cadet into the system. You can do this online before you arrive, on their website, or you can skip the lines by purchasing a Santa Photo Package in advance. The visit itself is FREE for everyone, the only cost that would be incurred is if you choose to get the Photo Package. Also, they do not allow you to use your own camera to take a picture of Santa.
One of the coolest features of the experience is a personalized badge that each child receives. In the image above Carlyn used her badge to enter the academy and her name appeared on the screens.
During the experience Carlyn and Naomi helped Santa and his elves get ready for Christmas, Carlyn tried on a virtual flight suit, loaded up the sleigh and checked the weather. There was so much to do, and the girls had so much fun.
Similar to the display last year, right before you see Santa there is a room where it is "snowing". The kids had so much fun. Just remember that your next step is pictures with Santa and the fake snow doesn't easily brush off of hair or clothing.
Visiting Santa was a great experience for Carlyn. Naomi, surprisingly, was not interested (we just got back from Disney World where she was ecstatic to meet the characters).
