The Morrie - a Review and Giveaway

Last week I have the pleasure of attending a blogger dinner event hosted and sponsored by The Morrie in Royal Oak.  What an awesome experience.

The Morrie is located on Main Street in Royal Oak, just north of 6th Street.  They have their own private parking which is $5, there is also lot and street parking available within a reasonable distance.

The Morrie has a fun rock and roll themed decor. Records are used to cover one of the walls and the menu has creative music themed names, and was presented in an album cover.

Start with a fantastic drink:

Most of us started the evening with this drink, Train in Vain - B-Side which is a fun sweet drink infused with pear, cinnamon, and vanilla flavors.  It was a wonderful way to start our meal.

Opening Acts:

Next, we all sampled a round of appetizers.  We shared Kung Pao Cauliflower, One Big Ol' Meatball and Brisket Mac.

The Brisket Mac is made with smoked cheddar, mancengo, sweet BBQ sauce, smoked brisket and topped with crispy onions.  I loved the flavor, this is a great dish to share.

The Kung Pao Cauliflower was our favorite.  It is made with dried chili, ginger, scallions, sesame seeds sriracha peanuts and cauliflower.  It had a fantastic bold flavor.

The One Big Ol' Meatball is made with ricotta salata, herbed polenta, and tomato-basil sauce.  I didn't get a chance to try it...

Headliners:

I love lots of veggies on my burger so I ordered The Green Room, but I added a hamburger patty to this veggie based burger.  It was loaded with a portobello mushroom, spinach, tomato, roasted peppers and onions and had a very tasty arugula-walnut pesto.  The Green Room was served on a Morrie Roll. While the burger was wonderful, the sweet potato tater tots stole the show.

Rachel ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken.  You can see her review of The Morrie on her blog: Redesigning Happiness.

Elizabeth ordered the Roadhouse Ribs.  You can see her review of The Morrie on Yes/No Films.

Encore:

Elizabeth and Heather split this amazing Caramelized Colossal Banana Split.  I had a sample and it was amazing.  All of the desserts are made in-house and a splendid treat. You can check out what Heather had to say on her blog: Mommy's Favorite Things.

Erica, from Fashion Meets Food, ordered the Ice Cream Sandwich which contains salted caramel ice cream.  Another fantastic dessert.

I ordered the Butterscotch Creme Brulee, which was heavenly.  It is made with sour cream chantilly and candied orange and topped with a Nutella macaron.  The macaron was out of this world and made the dish.  The pairing of the flavors was perfect.

Overall a most fantastic place to enjoy a meal with friends or family.  We are looking forward to going back.  I have heard they host a most delicious Sunday Brunch.  YUM.
