Aqua-Tots Swim Schools has announced that they will launch a FREE weekly open swim time for parents with infants 0-6 months old called Tiny Tot Time beginning February 13th. The program provides families the opportunity to introduce infants to water in a safe, controlled environment. Pool temperatures are kept at a comfortable 90 degrees, so swimmers are always comfortable and they provide ample sized, clean locker rooms for families. Aqua-Tots currently has six Metro Detroit locations which are centrally located in major commercial districts, with easy access and ample parking.
Increased physical, emotional, and social development are just some of the benefits of introducing young children to water. Since Michigan families are never too far from a pool or natural body of water, Aqua-Tots places equal emphasis on teaching water safety and drowning prevention. The America’s National Institute of Health study concluded that participation in formal swimming lessons, like those offered at Aqua Tots Swim Schools of Michigan, was associated with an 88% reduction in the risk of drowning for children ages 1 to 4 years (Archives Pediatric Medicine, Vol 163 No 3, March 2009). Should parents desire a more structured learning environment, Aqua-Tots also offers formal classes for children four months and older. The Tiny Tot Time program is open to the general public, but parent participation is required as there will be no active lifeguard on duty. Please bring towels, swimsuits, and a disposable and re-useable diaper for the child (available for purchase at front desk).
