Cedar Point's Castaway Bay - Beyond the Waterpark

Castaway Bay is in Sandusky, Ohio, and is one of the Cedar Point properties.  It is located at the entrance to the causeway to Cedar Point and is about a two-hour drive from Metro Detroit.

Visiting Castaway Bay during the colder months has been a favorite pastime for us.  We have gone several years in a row and the kids always have a fantastic time.  Check out our articles from the past:

9 Tips for Visiting Castaway Bay

This year I am focusing on all the activities beyond the water park.  When talking with guests at the park I noticed that many did not know the park offered all of these extras.

The daily Island Times Newsletter (available at the Front Desk) will give you all the information of fun things to do during your stay.  No need to wait in line, the Newsletter is available right at the desk.

Character Meet and Greets are usually available throughout the day.  Meet Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang in the main lobby! This is a great opportunity to snap a shot of the kids with their favorite Peanuts character!

Grab breakfast at Mango Mike's.  Every time we visit we always enjoy our breakfast at Mango Mike's.  The food is always good and plentiful.  They have a great selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, biscuits & gravy, sausage, bacon, sweet pastries, and cereal.  An added bonus is that your price includes unlimited beverages too.

This year we tried something new and the girls colored their own souvenir  T-Shirt.  Guests can create their own Castaway Bay souvenir t-shirt ($10) or cool backpack ($5) with custom colors!

As the night winds down, the kid's party begins.  Castaway Bay hosts Karaoke, a dance party, Peanuts Movie and Story Time With Snoopy.  The kids had a great time participating in all the activities. The dance party is a lot of fun, especially when it is well attended.  The karaoke is very popular, and they offer a wide selection of tunes.

The family movie and story time are our favorite.  We get the kids in their PJ's and they wind down at the end of the day with the movie and story.  After the story, there is a meet and greet opportunity with Snoopy.  We have the girls go back to the room to brush their teeth and go to bed.

Rosa also enjoyed participating in the scavenger hunt. This time the clues were spread out all around the lobby.  Rosa had fun reading each clue and trying to figure out the answers.  The prize was a game card at Crabby's for 4 credits (which is one play for most games).

Overall, we had a great time at Castaway Bay and highly recommend it as a perfect Staycation destination for families in Metro Detroit.

  2. My family has been to Cedar Point and Castaway Bay and absolutely LOVE both. We really enjoy the Peanuts Storytime, Movie and Dance Party at Castaway Bay which is a perfect way to unwind after a fun day at the water park. We haven't gone in several years, so I would love to visit again soon since both my boys are old enough and tall enough to do everything on their own!
