Wild Lights Detroit Zoo Information for 2023-2024

The Detroit Zoo continues their holiday tradition with another season of Wild Lights. Guests can enjoy this even from November 24, 2023 until January 7, 2024. More than five million LED lights will illuminate trees, buildings, and sculptures throughout the front half of the Detroit Zoo. Get your tickets online.

Wild Lights at the Detroit Zoo 2023-24 Dates and Times

Guests of all ages will enjoy a casual stroll through the magical holiday light displays. There will also be entertainment and special activities.

The Zoo will close at 4 pm daily. Then they will reopen at 5:00 on select dates for the Wild Lights display. The event normally takes about ninety minutes to complete.

DATES AND TIMES:
Select weeknights and Sundays 5 until 9 p.m.
Fridays and Saturdays 5 until 10:30 p.m.

NOVEMBER: 24-26

DECEMBER: 1-3, 8-10, 13-23, 26-31

JANUARY: 2-7

Detroit Zoo Wild Lights Activities

Introduced in 2022, guests can walk through the Enchanted Trail. The trail features an immersive forest of lights as well as seasonal music and sounds of the season. Be sure to check out the life-sized toy sculptures of light which includes a 40-foot-long train.

The Field of Light has been enhanced for 2023. Guests can engage their senses and watch the lights move and change colors in time with the holiday music. While the Underwater Trail features an amazing underwater scene. At the trail end, the interactive wall provides an opportunity for visitors to trigger the ocean to move, sway and glow along with their movement.

The Toyland experiences feature life-sized toy sculptures of light, which include a 40-foot long train which is the perfect photo op. Then stop by the wishing tree to make your holiday wish.

During your visit you can also get out of the cold, sit down, relax and enjoy a 4D movie. The Polar Express takes guests on an extraordinary adventure tot the North Pole.

New in 2023, the experience also includes the Environmental Impact II Art Exhibition where guests can learn about how art can make a difference for wildlife and wild paces. Featuring 19 artists, the exhibition highlights humans’ environmental impact.

Wild Lights Detroit Zoo Concessions

If you are looking to get your fill of the tastes of winter, then you can enjoy hot cocoa, warm pretzels , kettle corn as well as other festive favorites. You can also check out the Wild Lights Lodge. The Lodge was newly built in 2022 and provides guests with a space to warm up, enjoy holiday decor, live entertainment, bar service as well as s’mores.

Detroit Zoo Wild Lights Prices

Save money on your tickets by purchasing early and online. General Admission prices range from $17 up to $25. The Detroit Zoo will admit children under the age of two for free. Guest need to purchased tickets in advance, online. In addition to your ticket, you will need to buy a parking pass for $8. Parking will only be available on the surface lots as well as the ground level of the parking structure.
