Impression 5 Science Center Newest Exhibit: FLOW

Impression 5 Science Center is a dynamic, interactive space for families to play, create and challenge their understanding of science. Last week was the debut of its newest exhibit space and the opening of Flow: A Water Experience! Inside the exhibit, we explored two stories of interactive water components, from a giant flywheel jet to a vortex tank you can control. It was amazing!

On the second level, there were a few interactive elements like this water table and breath-taking views of all the action on the first floor.  The water table has connectable tubes so guests can control the flow of the water.

 A couple of views of the first level from the second floor.

I brought my three girls who will be 8, 5 and 2 in July and my Sister-in-law, who helped wrangle the kids so I could capture the experience with these images.  {Thanks so much CJ.}

There was a lot for the girls to do in the new exhibit and it kept them busy for a couple of hours.  I suspect that even curious teens would find this exhibit amazing, as each part has something to explore and learn.  From the youngest exploration of cause and effect to learning about the principles about why and how things work, the exhibit has learning opportunities for everyone.

The night before we visited this exhibit we watched a video on Veritasium (one of our nightly rituals) about why a ball will stay on a water jet that is pointed up (hydrodynamic levitation), so it was exciting to see this exhibit so Rosa could experiment with her recently attained knowledge.

Guests can try their hand at sailing a boat too. It isn't as easy as you might think.  Check out this video from Veritasium for tips on how to position your boat for the fastest movement.

How do boat locks work?

Control the flow of water on a vertical surface.

Control a water gun.

Experiment, learn, discover, play and so much more.

We had a fantastic time, and know you will too.
