Understanding IEPs with Sandee Koski

This workshop will help you better understand the Individualized Education Program (IEP) for children and youth who receive special education services.  Our goal is to help you understand the basic IEP components and how they work together, specifically:
  • The present level of academic achievement and functional performance (PLAAFP statement)
  • Writing measurable goals and objectives
  • Support services;
  • Plan implementation.

  • understanding your child's disability

  • knowing your rights and responsibilities
  • using clear and effective communication
  • understanding the special education process
  • knowing the dispute resolution process

All behavior is communication. We know that children who exhibit unacceptable behavior do so for a specific reason. This workshop will help you determine what they are saying with their behavior and how to substitute a more acceptable way to communicate that message.
