All About Metro Detroit Mommy - Meet the Bloggers

A Little About Metro Detroit Mommy:

Welcome to Metro Detroit Mommy, I'm Amber Louchart, your local guide to finding places to play and activities that are fun and safe for you and your children.

Metro Detroit Mommy was created in November of 2010.  My husband and I were looking for an indoor play place to take our daughter, Rosa.  As we were searching on our separate computers, racing to be the first to find the right place to visit, I thought to myself, "Why isn't there a website with all this information?"  And Metro Detroit Mommy was born.

Creating this kind of website was such a natural step for me after creating The Activity Idea Place in 1998 (a page about early childhood lesson plans), and is truly a labor of love. I have created a one-stop-shop for family activities to save you time and the frustration of always trying to come up with new experiences for your children to enjoy.

Metro Detroit Mommy's first review was of Jungle Java in Farmington Hills and since then I have traveled all over the Metro Detroit Area to try out bounce houses, cider mills, gymnastic centers, indoor play centers, splash pads and so much more

Metro Detroit Mommy has evolved into a place for me to support and promote local child centered businesses and events.  We feature Metro Detroit area hand made clothing designers, local resale shops, toy companies, mom to mom sales, family concerts, photography opportunities, etc. on our Facebook page and other companies of interest.

About Amber:

I am the proud Homeschooling mother to four beautiful children, Damian (20), Rosaleigh (7), Carlyn (4), Naomi (1) and a wife to my husband, Chancellor.  I enjoy reading, crafting, photography & singing, although with four children, a house to clean and two websites, I rarely find time to engage in my hobbies.

I love being a stay-at-home mom and  I feel so blessed to be able to care for my children full-time. I'm also finding out that I actually enjoy cooking!

Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, I was a teacher in the New York City schools for five years.  Keeping things short, I will just say that it wasn't a good fit for me, and, even though this was the job I had dreamed about for as long as I could remember, I found myself unfulfilled.  So, after Rosa was born, my family packed up and we moved back home to the Metro Detroit area, where we are all much happier.
