McDonald's - Royal Oak: 11 mile west of Washington

Today we check out the McDonald's in Royal Oak, on 11 Mile, just west of Washington.  The play structure is really neat with three main levels of play.  There are tons of tubes for the children to climb, two big space ships, a set of staggered steps and a big spiral slide.  Rosa had some difficulty reaching the slide, since the last staggered step is a little bit higher than the rest and the netting on the side has very small holes, so she wasn't able to stick her foot in the netting to help her up.  The floor was a little grungy and there was some graffiti at the top of the slide that was not legible, but otherwise appeared to be clean.

While the play structure is impressive, there are many drawbacks to this location.  First is the parking.  If you want to dine in, most of the spaces require you to cross the drive thru traffic.  I guess this is typical in many lots, but then you have to walk to the side of the building to enter.
Second, there are no tables in the play area.  There are glass windows between the main dining area and the play area.  Next to the windows are high booths, which aren't so easy to navigate with two toddlers and impossible if you need a high chair.  Additionally, there is no restroom in the play area, although the restaurant has one in the back of the store.  Finally, there are signs on the doors discouraging loitering, with a 30 minute limit on dining.  Not very inviting to play area patrons.

That being said, it is still a very cool structure and we will drop by again when we are in the area.
