Marshbank Park – West Bloomfield

Marshbank Park
I took the boys over to West Bloomfield for the Free Children’s Concert at Marshbank Park.  This was the last day of this summer concert series, but I am hoping there will be more next summer.  It was a hit with my boys and it
brought out a pretty large crowd.  Most of the families brought blankets and had a picnic lunch.

This was my first visit to Marshbank Park and I learned that the park grounds were renovated in late 2010. As you enter the park, there is a new large play structure.  My boys enjoyed the teeter-totter and the bridge the best.  Being a mother of two rowdy boys, I really appreciated the padded ground beneath the play structure.  It seemed to be extra cushiony.  Directly behind the play area, there is an indoor shelter with bathrooms, two water fountains and a community room.  The bathrooms were spotless with a stainless steel changing table and a large handicap stall, which is very helpful when you are trying to keep a two and three year old under control.

The boys and I then drove toward the back of the park and discovered another new play structure.  From my car window, the structure appeared to be metal and better suited for older children.  The park also has a baseball field, a sand volleyball court, a fishing pier and dock overlooking Cass Lake.

The park is very nice and if you and your family get a chance to check it out before the end of the summer, I would do so.  If you are feeling adventurous, make a trip to the park this winter and sled down the large sledding hill.
This park was a bit of a drive for me, but if the park is ever having another special event, I will make the trip again. The kids enjoyed it!
Marshbank Park is open year round from 8 AM to dusk. Entry to the park is free.
