Balboa Baby Sling Review and Giveaway

Balboa Baby has sent me a Sling to review and one to a lucky fan will receive one in exchange for this post.

Balboa Baby offers many products for infants and parents.  I was most interested in a new sling since my Moby and SleepyWrap are not really suited to hold Carlyn for long periods of time.  I was attracted to Balboa Baby because the design is simple, easy to use and comes in some great fabric choices.

The baby can be positioned in one of four different carrying styles.

The Cradle Style is designed for babies that can support their own head.  Great when baby is getting sleepy or wanting to nurse.  I really like this position, I might try it on my next walk.

The Cuddle Style is for younger babies that need more support.  I don't think that I would use this style with Carlyn, she was really wanting to turn around.

The Front Carrier Style is for babies that can support their own head.  I was not thrilled about this position either, Caryln was constantly leaning forward, and I was afraid she would fall out!

I am most comfortable with the Hip Carrier Style, although Carlyn was constantly trying to turn around and lean back.

What I LOVE about the Balboa Baby Sling
  • The design is simple and easy to put on and remove
  • The fabric choices are very cute and totally my style including the new Pink Camelllia
  • The sling is one size fits most and fits me rather well (I even had some slack)
  • Four carrying styles make this sling very versatile
What I didn't like:
  • I didn't feel very secure in any of the positions and felt that I needed to hold on to Carlyn while she was in the sling. The directions even say that you should always keep one hand on your baby while moving.
  • During my 2 hour use of the sling, the adjustable strap loosened several times and had to be readjusted
  • After my 2 hour use my arms and shoulders hurt.  Note that in the images the strap rides on my neck, but I made sure to pull the strap out to the ball of my shoulder, which was still uncomfortable but more bearable.
  • It does not suit my needs any better than the other two carriers I own.

I think that if you have a younger or lighter child you may find this sling is a great fit.
