Changing Gears Book - review and giveaway

I recently had the pleasure of reading "Changing Gears - A Family Odyssey to the End of the World" by Nancy Sathre-Vogel.  This true story is about a mother, her husband and twin boys and their 1018 day adventure through fifteen countries on bikes.

While reading through the book, I was consistently amazed by the lessons this family learned that went way beyond just riding a bike for 17,285 miles.  Nancy and her family left their Idaho home with their bikes and gear and traveled from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Ushuaia, Argentina.  The story is simply inspiring, I mean if they can ride their bikes across the world, I can walk a couple of miles a day, right?

"Changing Gears" is a fun read that literally pulled me through the pages.  The images and diary entries were great additions to the writing.  One day they were celebrating another victory only to be followed by another setback that would have the mother questioning herself and the trip.  With the "road angles" helping them along the way, each setback was met with just the right assistance.  It is amazing how life works out that way.

The book is basically about setting aside your fears to make your dreams come true, whatever they might be.    I highly recommend this book, especially for those who would like to read a book that is likely to inspire you to be more active.
