Disney's Frozen - Great Family Movie

We ventured out into the freezing temperatures on Monday to see the movie Frozen at Emagine Theatre in Royal Oak.

Frozen in 3D started with a very cute Mickey Mouse short - "Mickey Mouse Get a Horse."  I actually had to take off my glasses to see if the stage and curtains in the movie were real.  The movie was expertly remade for the 3D experience.  It was a funny short that had the audience chuckling.

Frozen starts off as a traditional Disney movie.  For the princess sisters Anna and Elsa life is perfect, until there is a mishap and Elsa's and Anna's relationship is ruined.  To add to the despair, their parents parish in a storm on the sea.

Anna struggles to find a way to be there for her sister, she is consistent, loving and forgiving of her sister who seems cold and uncaring.   The story unravels from there.

The storyline is fantastic.  I simply love the "True Love" twist which left me very surprised.  The music was very well done and I will be purchasing the soundtrack for a Christmas Gift for my daughter.  I already loved Idina Menzel's voice (you may know her from Broadway's Wicked or her appearances on TV's Glee), so it was a joy to hear her voice compliment the others in this movie.

The movie is rated PG for action and some crude humor, but I personally did not find any issues with allowing my four year old to see it.  Rosa loved it and wants to go see it again.

I highly recommend this as your next family movie.
