Oakland County Parks and Recreation seeks lifeguards

Oakland County Parks and Recreation is recruiting lifeguards for employment at two outdoor waterparks and three beaches.

“Lifeguarding is a fantastic opportunity to gain or improve professional skills while working in a dynamic, fun environment. These positions are ideal for those who enjoy interacting with others,” Manager Parks and Recreation Operations Sue Wells said.

Previous lifeguard experience is not necessary. Oakland County Parks will provide mandatory training in May. Seasonal summer employment is limited to 13 weeks. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older; be able to swim 200 yards without resting; tread water for two minutes without using arms; and perform a feet-first dive to retrieve a brick at an eight-foot depth.

Applications must be submitted online through by May 18. Returning seasonal applicants are required to apply online following the same procedure.
