Dickey's Barbecue Pit Grand Opening in Ferndale {7/24/14} #DickeysonWoodward

Yesterday my family was able to attend the soft opening of Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Ferndale.  This location is situated on Woodward, just a few blocks north of 9 Mile in Downtown Ferndale.  Parking behind the location is FREE!  Isn't that awesome!

Their Grand Opening is today {7/24/14}starting at 11 am and they are running some great special over the weekend.  Be sure to drop by and check them out.

Thursday opens with the first 50 guests receiving gift cards worth up to $50. On Friday, the new Dickey’s Barbecue Pit will offer all day merchandise giveaways which includes t-shirts, magnets and more! Stop by on Saturday when radio station 100.3 WNIC is onsite from noon to 2 p.m. when the location is serving $2 pulled pork barbecue sandwiches. Also, one lucky winner will be chosen for a $500 gift card and three winners will receive free barbecue for an entire year.

From their website:
"In 1941, Travis Dickey opened the first Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Dallas, Texas.... Every location smokes all of their meats on-site at the restaurant the same way it was done in 1941. Dickey's serves up beef brisket, pulled pork, ham, polish sausage, turkey breast and chicken, with an extensive array of home-style sides from jalapeño beans to macaroni and cheese. Buttery rolls are served with every meal along with the complimentary ice cream and dill pickles. And just like always, kids eat free on Sunday."

Dickey's is fast casual restaurant where customers order their food at the counter, then proceed to check out, pick up their food and sit down to eat.

There are a lot of great options to choose from.  Meat plates, pork ribs, sandwiches, YUM.  They also have a menu just for kids:

I chose the two meat plate, below is picture the Spicy Cheddar Sausage {bursting with jalapeño}, Beef Brisket {hickory "smoked to perfection" brisket}, Barbecue Beans, Fried Onion Tanglers, and their legendary Buttery Roll.

Everything was tasty.  I really enjoyed... well everything.

Each drink is served in a big yellow cup which you are encouraged to take with you and use again at home.  Dickey's offers Coke products.  I had the light lemonade, which was a nice option, since I no longer drink soda.

Dickey's offers three tasty barbecue sauces to add to your meal, original, spicy, and sweet.  My favorite is the sweet.

Not only do they have a kids menu, every Sunday kids eat FREE!  AWESOME!

Owners Jason Irvine and Craig Southerland are both former employees of JP Morgan Chase.  They frequently enjoyed lunch at a nearby Dickies with their co-workers, so when their office closed Irvine and Southerland decided to open their own location. We are so very glad they did!!

You can connect with Dickey's in Ferndale online and on Facebook.
