"The Swings: An Exercise in Musical Cooperation" - Cadillac Square in Detroit

Guest Blogger: Emily Steffans

"The Swings: An Exercise in Musical Cooperation" is a traveling installation created by the Daily tous les jous studio. It will be in Detroit in Cadillac Square at Campus Martius in Detroit until May 8.
It's open daily from 11 am - 10 pm.

There are ten swings representing the harp, piano, vibraphone and piano. As you swing, you make sounds. Swing in sync with others and create a musical piece!

When we visited at 11, we had the swings to ourselves. But as the day went on, more people came to check it out! These are not baby or toddler swings, little ones would need to be on a lap. My five year old was fine but needed pushes as the swings are a bit heavier than normal swings. There are only a few rules: no standing on the swings and no jumping off.

There is street parking available in the immediate are that take debit cards. On most days the food trucks are out there as well. Grab some lunch or dinner or bring some and use the picnic tables available!

There are many great things to do in Detroit. This is definitely one to check out!

Emily is a homeschooling mom who loves exploring with her daughter!
