Wonders of the World weekend September 10th and 11th Michigan Renaissance Festival

The Wonders of the World weekend September 10th and 11th invites patrons to explore unique merchants and enjoy entertainment from around the globe!

Wonders of the world weekend will feature events and acts from all walks of life. Featured entertainers like Zingara Gypsies and Ballet Folklörico De Detoit will be joining the Festival lineup as well as new events like Gears, Gadgets and Glam: A Steampunk Party. Enjoy a night of Gears, Gadgets and Glam accompanied by music, entertainment, dinner, drinks and more. The night will be hosted by Vourteque, aka Joseph CR Vourteque, a DJ, music producer, circus and sideshow performer who has traveled throughout the US representing neo-vintage culture since 2010. He's performed for and at the likes of the Tampa Steampunk Ball, Edwardian Ball, Steampunk World's Fair, Electric Forest and Cirque du Soliel as well as runs the popular Lords & Ladies DJs stage at Detroit's Theatre Bizarre.

The Michigan Renaissance Festival will also be featuring Sign Language Weekend, inviting the Deaf Community to come out and enjoy the show. Throughout the day, patrons will find a signing symbol that will denote the presence of a volunteer Interpreter. In addition to the Festival’s main marketplace merchants, shoppers can check out specialty vendors at the World Market located in the Valley of Aberdare. While wandering through the marketplace, you can expect to find a variety of goods including; fairie doors, gypsy wares, and all things Steampunk. After shopping, be sure to show off your new found gadgets in the Steampunk costume contest or your timely wares in the ALL NEW Dr. Who costume contest!

Patrons will be showing off their hip-shaking talents in the Middle Eastern Dance Competition. This event gives participants the opportunity to shimmy their way to prizes, with categories for both amateur and professional dancers.  The competition will be judged by the Zingara,Gypsies, who will be making a special appearance after being a staple act at the Renaissance Festival for over 10 years.

The Michigan Renaissance Festival is a long-standing tradition whose 38th season that began on August 20th and ends on October 2nd 2016. The Festival is open weekends, as well as Festival Friday, September 30th. The Festival is open from 10 am – 7 pm rain or shine. Admission at the gate: Adults $22.95; Children 5-12 $13.95; age 4 and younger get in free! Discount tickets are available at Kroger, Walgreens, Menards, Goodwill and Costco. Discount Coupons are available at Participating Subway and Big Boy. FREE Parking provided by Al Serra Auto Plaza.
