Sweet Mitten Dreams was born in the pandemic, helping to ignite imagination and play.
How Sweet Mitten Dreams Started
Julie McInerney started sewing during the COVID-19 pandemic, making play tents for her three children. She was proud of her creations. Her husband Danny helped, making the wooden frames. Then she shared pictures of her play tents on Instagram.
Family and friends loved the creativity and beauty of the play tents and asked for their own, leading the McInerneys to ponder: Is there a business idea here?
The Beginning of the Business
And there was: Sweet Mitten Dreams https://sweetmittendreams.com/ was born in July after the couple did a lot of soul-searching and realized they had a desire for change. Julie loved the creative outlet. Danny, who had been a sales manager at a family-owned car dealership – liked the challenge.
“We have a young family,” said Julie. “We’re busy. But this speaks to us. It inspires us. We were hungry for something. We don’t know where it will lead, but we are loving it right now.”

Julie, a stay-at-home mom who used to be a recruiter, loves being creative. Whether it is finding the right fabrics for the tents or coming up with new themes. She also enjoys helping parents plan parties and events using Sweet Mitten Dreams’ fleet of rental tents and accessories.
Sweet Mitten Dreams Tents
The tents, tent packages and parties are all completely customizable. Whether your child likes unicorns, mermaids, sports, or science, Julie and Danny can work with you to create the perfect tent or party concept. Julie can also use fabric you provide to sew your tent. The fabric can match any theme or even your child’s décor.
“The bottom line is, you won’t find your child’s tent in anyone else’s home,” she said.

Theme Packages
The company’s theme packages are extra fun, with sets that inspire independent play and endless imagination. And the parties look as dreamy as you would imagine, with the tents serving as decoration and function, filled with whatever treats and activities the host desires.
“If you love the idea of doing a theme gift or a theme party, but you don’t have the time to pull it together, I can do that for you. We’ll handle it all and you can relax and enjoy,” Julie said.

Right now, Sweet Mitten Dreams does birthday parties and first sleepover experiences for the most part, but Julie said the company is looking at Christmas packages and other indoor, winter fun ideas. Look for new themes: Super heroes, Peppa Pig and Star Wars) to come out soon.
Sweet Mitten Dreams hopes to grow and evolve in 2021, so if you are planning a party for your child, be sure to keep them in mind. They do indoor and outdoor events.
