Meet Tawanna Jackson, an Avon Representative & "Mompreneur"

The mom life can be hard and with jobs, kids, sports, dance, chores, homework…You get the picture. Sometimes, it can be hard to juggle it all.

Enter the “mompreneur,” a mom with either a part-time or full-time job selling products like makeup, clothing, or cleaning products. These mompreneurs are passionate, supporting their families via sales.

Like Tawanna Jackson, a Detroiter with two children who happens to sell Avon. She’s been selling Avon for 4 ½ years. I was given some Avon products to try in exchange for this post.

Tawanna, who is 39, says a big part of her business is recruiting and building her team. She decided to sell Avon so she could spend more time with her family while bringing in a paycheck. Her mother was also an Avon representative.

Tawanna does have a day job, when she’s not being a mom to 14-year-old Tahrielle and 8-month-old Cayden. She’s also planning to get married to Charles this year! She says being an Avon representative means she can set her own hours and the sky is the limit in terms of income.

“That’s the beauty of Avon, it’s what you make of it,” said Tawanna.

Her favorite products are Skin So Soft Radiant Moisture (replenishing hand cream), Avon True Color Lip Balm, Avon Candles and Avon Solutions Nurtura. It’s also a replenishing cream and it feels great on her face, she said.

I am personally loving the eye liner. It’s satiny smooth, so it glides on and stays put for hours. The lipsticks are also really nice and long-lasting.

I wasn’t a crazy fan of the perfume they sent me, Red Dress. I think it’s because I’m into more natural scents like essential oil blends.

Tawanna said she would absolutely recommend becoming an Avon representative to other moms, because you get to be your own boss.

5. Would you recommend it to other moms?

“I determine how much money I want to make, how many hours I want to work, plus I have my online store that's open 24-hours 7 days a week to assist my customers,” she said.

The biggest challenge? Balancing it all. Trying to schedule family events and work on the same day is difficult, she said. However, the benefit is that she can care for her children and spend quality time with family.

Isn’t that what we all want? To learn more about Avon, visit their web page.
