Free Movie, Swimming, Park Clean-Up And More!

On behalf of the theatrical release of The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature, City of Detroit has joined forces with Open Road Films to promote the importance of parks and the joy they can provide for kids as well as adults.

On Friday, July 21, people of all ages are invited to partake in a park clean-up at Rouge Park located at 21800 Joy Road. Clean-up registration begins at 9:00am. The day will include activities such as swimming, games and various activates for families. To continue with the excitement of the event, a FREE screening of the original animated movie The Nut Job, will take place at 9:00pm. Additional entertainment will be provided by PB Crave and Blue Diamond Almonds. Best of all, families will enjoy a meet and greet with their favorite squirrel, Surly!

Don’t miss out on this great event to have fun at our parks and celebrate the release of The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature coming to theaters nationwide on August 11.

Surly Squirrel (Will Arnett) and the gang are back. We are once again in Oakton where the evil mayor has decided to bulldoze Liberty Park and build a dangerous amusement park in its place. Surly and his ragtag group of animal friends band together to save their home, defeat the mayor, and take back the park. NUT JOB 2 also features the voice talent of Katherine Heigl (The Nut Job), Jackie Chan (Kung Fu Panda 3), Peter Stormare (Penguins of Madagascar), Bobby Cannavale (Ant-Man), Isabela Moner (Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life), and Maya Rudolph (The Angry Birds Movie). THE NUT JOB 2: NUTTY BY NATURE releases in theaters nationwide on August 11.
