Convertible Car Seats That Rear Face up to 50 Pounds

Disclosure:  If you have any questions about your child and their car seat please consult with a Licensed Car Seat Technician, you can find one here: http://cert.safekids.org/

After the post about the new proposed new car seat regulations in Michigan,  We have had quite a few people ask about car seats that have extended rear facing capabilities.  Dana has listed these  seats.  I am in no way endorsing any of these seats, just providing information.  Please check the ratings, talk with your friends or join a car seat safety group to ensure you choose the best seat for your situation.

In a recent article, Dana Lange (CPST) shared and the benefits of Rear Facing as long as you can and these nine seats that accommodate children up to 50 pounds.

It isn't just about weight:
Factors such as make and model of your car, your child's measurements (height, torso length, etc), harness placement (& adjustment levels) and how many children you need to accommodate will play a role in choosing the best car seat(s) for your child/family.

I chose to feature convertible car seats. Most accommodate children starting at five pounds up to 100 pounds and beyond.  I believe that if you are going to spend money on a car seat, you will want one that will last.  These car seats are a bit pricier than most, but barring a car accident they will grow with your child until they no longer need a car seat or until the seat expires.

I have done my best to provide accurate information here, however sometimes mistakes are made.  Before purchasing please confirm the car seat's specifications in the manual, on the manufacturer's website or packaging.

Here are the seats, all available on Amazon.com (affiliate links).  Many of the seats are available through Prime so you will get your seat in two days.

Dana Lange also works for Modern Natural Baby in Ferndale where they provide FREE car seat inspections with the purchase of any seat.  Currently they carry the Clek  and Diono seats mentioned above.  Support local business and get a free car seat check!  Awesome!
